The upcoming Yakuza: Like a Dragon takes the long-running series down the Japanese role-playing game route. An all-new, turn-based battle system reinvigorates the action, but old, clunky character Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s combat smartly takes inspiration from heavyweights of the turn-based JRPG genre: particularly the early Dragon Quests and Final Fantasy’s, and the more recent Persona’s. Abilities are mapped to the face buttons, and shortcuts can be assigned to the direction buttons, so trawling through menus is kept to a minimum. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a big shift for the beloved series. It features new characters in a new city with a new combat system — and it’s launching on new Xbox hardware with the Series X and If you are a fan of Yakuza series, you should definitely try Like a Dragon. The new entry in the Yakuza series not only introduces a brand new character, but also tells a great and dramatic story that will carry you until the very end, and stays true to the classic gameplay elements of the series even though there are lots of new added features. Yakuza: Like a Dragon stars Ichiban Kasuga who's been betrayed so he goes on an epic quest to seek revenge and unravel the mystery as to why he was double-crossed. As with most Yakuza games, the story is filled with a solid and varied cast of characters that really bring the game world to life with their over-the-top antics and larger-than-life I feel like it offered the best of both worlds by giving us multiple protagonists like Yakuza 4/5 but also maintaining a focused story like in 0 and the Kiryu only games. The stories in 4 and 5 got a little messy imo because of it trying to tie all the different protagonists individual stories together. Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be the latest entry in the Yakuza series, which spans seven mainline entries and numerous spinoffs.
